Orla A. Power Esq.

Orla A. Power joined Gursky Wiens & Shanley September 2024 after completing the position of Judicial Clerk for the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court under the direction of Honorable Judge Debra L. Olsson. As a law student, Ms. Power was a member of the American Indian Law Student Association during her 1L year and ascended to the Presidency for her 2L and 3L years. As President of AILSA, Ms. Power started and secured the tradition of a drum circle performed by the Eastern Medicine Singers to occur every year during the first week of classes in recognition and celebration of indigenous people. This tradition continues.

Throughout Law School Ms. Power held various positions which included practicing as a Rule 9 Student Attorney for the Roger Williams School of Law Immigration Clinic. Ms. Power assisted Special Immigrant Juveniles ensuring they could remain safe, receive education, and join the work force in Rhode Island. During her final semester of law School, Ms. Power had the honor of completing a judicial externship for the Honorable Chief Judge Robert M. Ferrieri of the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court under the guidance of Honorable William E. Smith, Chief Judge, US District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Her classmates elected Orla as their Student Bar Association 3L class representative.

In her practice at Gursky Wiens & Shanley, Ms. Power represents injured workers who have been hurt on the job, regularly advocating for them before the Workers’ Compensation Court in Providence, Rhode Island. Ms. Power also represents injured plaintiffs throughout the State of Rhode Island for non-work-related injuries.

Ms. Power is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association.
